Your emotions which are unconscious
are first conveyed through the body. The body doesn't lie. That's why it's important
to first get control of the physical self. The visual message is more than half
the message. There is a language of confidence which begins by how you hold
yourself.
Weak body language includes:
- Crossing one leg in front of the other
- Fidgeting
- Slumping in your seat
- Pacing back and forth
- Looking down at the floor
- Clasping your hands
- Arms folded in front of you may look defensive.
- Stone-faced
Strong body language
- Stand tall
- Weight evenly distributed
- Focused movement. Walk, stop, talk. Make your point and then move on to
another spot in the room.
- Expansive, open, above the waist gestures
- Smiling
- Facial expressions
People will believe what they see over what they hear.
Start your presentations with strong body language.
