Every audience is different.
Don't give the same speech in the exact same way for every audience. That's called
a dog and pony show. How many of us like hearing something that's scripted? Analyze
the audience because you want to connect with them, get your message across, and
get a particular result.
Analyze these areas before preparing your speech:
- Age
- Size of audience
- Education level
- Technical knowledge
- Experience level(in their jobs, in an industry)
- Political interests
- Male/Female ratio
- Diversity (cultural background)
- Company culture
- Job title
- Decision-making roles (who makes the decision, who influences)
- Expectations (what do they expect to gain from your talk)
- Attitudes (toward you, the topic. Are they friendly or hostile?)
